Categories of the H-2 Visa
There are two categories of visa under the H-2 visa:
H-2A: The H-2A visa allows agricultural workers who have already been offered a job by an employer to enter the United States to work on a temporary basis. H-2A visa holders can only work in the agricultural industry and only on a temporary, as-needed basis. Holders of an H-2A visa can stay in the US up to, but no longer than, 3 years.
H-2B: The H-2B visa allows non-citizen immigrant workers to enter the country to perform skilled or unskilled work that is either seasonal or temporary in nature. As with the H-2A visa, to qualify for an H-2B visa you must have a job offer from an employer at the time of your application.
